Edward Santos wakes up to the sound of his alarm
clock, it’s 9 AM. He goes downstairs for breakfast, kisses his wife good
morning and sits down and starts to eat. “Bye honey, got to get to work, have a
great day.” Edward Santos owns a small grocery store. He walks to work every
morning saying hello to everyone he meets. In this small little town everyone
says hello: there isn’t a particular reason why. Everyone is friendly and the
crime rate is zero percent. There is not even a police station in this small
city of Los Santos.
Edward got to his store and walked in. The door did
not have a lock. His friend was already there behind the counter. “Don’t worry
go home relax a little bit,” Edward said with a smile. Edward grabbed the
town’s newspaper. The headline was “Fred and Lily are getting married!” Edward
chuckled and said “good for them.” There was not much news to write about, so
the newspaper was about a paragraph. It was usually about new animals in the zoo
or marriages. This town had no religion, so marriage was just a ceremony that
was just about the couple and their love.
A women walks in the grocery store and picks up some
bread and walks up to the counter.
“Hey how are you?” asked Edward,
“I’m great!” the women says with a smile.
Edward put the bread into a plastic bag and gave it to her.
“Thanks, I’ll be back tomorrow.”
She then went on her way back home. In Los Santos there was no money system. People just did favors for each other. Everyone played a role in the society, everyone would get it done in time and people loved going to work. Customers kept coming throughout the day. There was a limitless supply of food on the shelves for them. The delivery men would bring the food from farms and put it right on the shelves. It was around time to go home to Edward’s lovely wife. Edward left the store exactly how it was and walked home whistling a love song.
“Honey I’m home” he said walking through the door.
“Hey honey” Mrs. Santos replied.
Edward brought home some pasta from the restaurant nearby for dinner. They both sat down at the table and talked about their days. She was the first to ask “How was your day?”
“It was good, but not a lot of people showed up today so it was a little lonelier, but still fun. What about you?" he asked.
His wife is the secretary to the mayor. “It was good, which reminds me the Mayor would like to see you tomorrow, he said something about an assignment that would be good for the town.”
“Alright sounds good, it’s Henry’s shift tomorrow so I would not mind one bit,” he said with excitement in his voice.
There was something about the Mayor that made you smile more than anyone else in the town. People say that’s why he became Mayor, that and also he loved the job. Edward was excited, he laid awake in his bed thinking of what the Mayor had in store for him. He then said good night to his wife and they both fell asleep.

Edward sat down across from the mayor, Edward was
smiling a big smile. The Mayor got straight to the point “A woman from New York
has contacted me, she has heard of stories of our town and would like to come
here and write an article on us.”
“Oh wow, that’s great,” Edward said.
“Edward this town and I would surely appreciate if you would drive to New York and pick her up. There is no need for her to take such a long trip by herself.”
“Alright no problem, I’ll leave right away, thank you for the opportunity Mayor.”
Edward got up and left the room and said goodbye to his wife and left for NY.

Edward was on the road; he was thirty minutes away
from the city. He was going over the plan in his head. The plan is to meet the
reporter in front of her building and walk around NY to do some sightseeing.
Since Edward never left his hometown before, and never interacted with anyone
outside the town, there were a lot of changes. The city was noisy, there were
so many people. No one would say hello back. He was scared, worried, and
nervous. These were feelings he never felt before. He started to yell: this was
the first time he ever yelled. Edward didn’t know where to turn, where to hide
from all the noise and all the unfriendly people. He started to yell and
started to run towards his truck when he got hit by a bus. He lays there in the
middle of the street dead. The reporter walked out of her house as soon as he
was hit, and people told her what happened. She went inside and called the
Mayor of Los Santos, she told him what happened. The Mayor never told anyone from
the town what had happened; he told them that Edward decided to stay in NY. The
Mayor hid the town from everyone after that; he did not want anyone else to
ruin their utopia. Legend is that this utopia exists somewhere out there;
however people have never been able to find it. The End.
