He opened his eyes in the motel room with post it notes written all over the wall. This motel was not one of your 5 star hotels, it was a lot worse. There was a terrible smell in the room of cheap perfume. He could not remember what has happened to him the previous day, or any time for that matter. He grabbed one of the post it notes it said “ Marry Walton.” The name sounded familiar but he could not remember who it was. He looked at other post it notes, some said murder, while others said Stan E, there were too many to see. He opened the door and saw the number 1443 as his room. He opened the door and walked into the reception.
“Who does room 1443 belong to?” he asked the receptionist.
“To you, sir.” the receptionist replied.
“Yes, but what is my name?”
“You aren’t the one who checked out this room."
“Then who did?”
“Some police officer and said his name was Barney”
“Where is the nearest police station?”
“30 minutes by car, make a first right.”
“Thank you.”
He looked in his pocket and found a car key. On it said “Marry Walton, Honda.” Luckily there was only one honda in this motel, he took it and drove off. When he got to the station he started screaming “Barney, who is Barney?”
“I am,” said the man in front of him. “What are you doing here Stanley?”
“I don’t remember anything, nothing that has happened previously in my life, the last thing I remember is me and a women planning a wedding.”
“Stanley you need to calm down, you were attacked four years ago, by a murderer. He murdered your girlfriend Marry, and left you with a severe memory defect. Ill give you a ride, back to the motel. You have been trying to solve the murder yourself, but you get yourself even more confused.”
They got into the car and drove in a different direction.
“Where are we going?” Stanley asked.
“I’m bringing you to your old house, I bring you there everyday trying to help you remember.”
When they got to the house it was graffitied, and blocked off by police lines. Two years have passed and those damn thing have not fell off yet.
“Anything?” Barney asked. There was a post it note near the house, and looked crumbled up. It was the same color as the ones in the motel room When Stanley picked it up, it said “Don’t trust anyone.” He decided to leave the note there, deciding not to trust the cop.
“Are you ready to go home now?” Barney asked.
“I think I’d rather walk.”
“Are you sure, it is a 40 minute walk.”
“Yea I’m sure.”
“One more thing, the man that murdered your wife, his name is Stan E.”
As Stanley walked back to his motel room, he could smell a familiar scent. The same smell he felt in the hotel room. A tattoo parlor with loud music, and screeching sounds. As Stanley walked in he saw a name plate that said Stan E. Was the murderer really here, and if he is would Stanley remember what happened. Will his condition go away?
“Does Stan work here?”
“I am so sorry Stan has died last week, he was murdered by some crazy man, complaining about his wife,” some men with a dragon tattoo answered “He was innocent too, yea he did sell some drugs. But murder, no.”
There were some post it notes near the desk for tattoo designs. Stanley took one and wrote “ Tattoo parlor is innocent, don’t go there dead end.” As he passed the police station he saw a name tag “S. B. Eduardo”. “Eduardo” he screamed.
“Yes Stanley”. Barney came out.
“Is your first name Stan?”
“Yes, and if you are pointing out that I killed your wife well, I didn’t”
“Don’t trust anybody” Stan remembered. He thought that Barney was lying, he panicked picked up the name tag and hit Barney in the head. Seeing blood all over the floor, he realized he just killed the his wife's murder. The other cops rushed in and pulled Stanley into a cell. “It’s too bad you just committed a murder, and you won’t remember it tomorrow, you will just continue to try to find your wife’s killer. We found evidence that the murder has a tattoo of the blue dragon clan.”Stanley knew who the murder is, but there was no sticky note around, he could knew he would not remember, so he just let go.
